The USB-C Gigabit + Power Adapter connects your USB-C iPad Pro or USB-C iPad Air to Ethernet and power.
This is ideal for use in iPad-based point-of-sale systems, kiosks, or other 24/7 use cases where the iPad requires a reliable wired connection to a network and power source.

When connected to a USB-C iPad, the adapter is immediately recognized as a network connection.
You can configure this network connection using the Settings app.

Use a standard USB-C cable to connect the adapter, charger, and USB-C iPad.

Q: How do I set up a network connection?

A: Use the Settings app on your iPad.
When you connect the adapter to your iPad or iPhone, "Ethernet" will appear between "WiFi" and "Bluetooth" in the Settings app. Both DHCP and static IP addresses are supported.

Q: Can I use this adapter with other computers or tablets?

A: The USB-C Gigabit + Power Adapter is designed for the USB-C iPad.
Because it uses industry-standard networking and charging interfaces, it may also be compatible with other devices (e.g., MacBook, Surface, Android tablets) when paired with an appropriate USB Power Delivery compliant USB-C charger.
We have not tested on these other platforms and cannot provide support for using these other platforms.

Q: What is the maximum bandwidth of an Ethernet connection?

A: The Gigabit + Power Adapter is a USB 3 to Ethernet adapter.
When used with a USB-C iPad, it provides up to 225Mbps of bandwidth.

Q: Can I share my iPad's cellular data connection with an Ethernet connection?

A: Not currently. Perhaps a future version of iOS will support it.

Q: Does the USB-C Gigabit + Power Adapter have a unique MAC address?

A: Yes, each adapter is programmed with a unique MAC address during the manufacturing process.

Q: Can I use any USB-C charger?

A: It is assumed that you will use the USB-C charger that came with your iPad.
If for any reason you choose to use a different USB-C charger, the charger must comply with the USB Power Delivery specification and provide enough power for your iPad.

Q: The adapter has two USB-C ports. Are they used differently?

A: Yes. As stated on the label on the bottom of the adapter, use one USB-C port only to connect to your iPad and the other USB-C port only to connect to a USB-C charger.

Q: Will it work without a USB-C charger?

A: Yes, in this case the adapter draws power from the iPad to operate.

A: The adapter supports 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet connections.
